"I am running to be your Los Angeles Community College District Trustee. I pledge to increase each campus's degree value, through a corruption free and fiscally accountable Los Angeles Community College District and create jobs with NCAA football expansion at LA Trade Tech & LA City College. I am a journalist and serve as ownership of multiple businesses. I am a prominent Long Beach State University alumnus where I campaigned hard to bring back the Division 1A NCAA football team and was a member of the rugby team as a student. I pledge to create jobs, increase the value of LACCD degrees earned, and a student & constituent-friendly Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD).
Political Views: I believe in small government, free enterprise and individual liberty. My political beliefs are guided by the United States Constitution.
Civil Rights: As a member of the NAACP, I am an advocate of civil rights for all colors of students and constituents equally. I believe in enforcement of Bill of Rights entitlements within the scope of service for the Los Angeles Community College District Trustee in particular.
Environment: I believe in rural, suburban, and urban farming. I am pledging to reinstate the Pierce College Farm with further funding to expand it's past operations and funding to return the farm fencing on the perimeter of the campus. I look forward to ushering in solar and wind power for Los Angeles Community College District campuses & facilities. I believe in protecting our water for future generations.
Education: Benjamin Franklin said, “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” I agree with Benjamin Franklin’s words and believe that funding higher education is of the utmost importance. During late 2017, I qualified Measure F in the City of Signal Hill which allocated a 2.5% tax towards Signal Hill education. I believe all levels of education need more money to update technology and hire more teachers.
Jobs: In November 2016, California Voters approved legal marijuana. I am proposing creating a new academic program centered around cannabis agriculture and business at Pierce College. The San Fernando Valley has a high demand for cannabis workers with continued growth in the field forecasted for decades to come. For example, during mid 2016, I qualified a 2016 municipal ballot measure in Avalon, California proposing many jobs in town for two cannabis business enterprises on the island, which would have created a considerable number of jobs ranging from fifty to 100.
Public Safety: As a member of the NRA, I am an advocate of Second Amendment, Bill of Rights entitlements to all who possess the authority or legally qualify. I support the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and believe they play an integral role in protecting human life and property. I qualified Measure F in the City of Signal Hill, this measure allocates a 2.5% tax towards the Signal Hill Police Department. Law Enforcement can use the revenue to update training, buy equipment or add positions to make streets safer.
Labor: I support labor unions and protecting workers’ rights. In 2016, I introduced a measure titled the Signal Hill Jobs Initiative. The initiative includes a labor peace agreement requirement provision. Also, I was an intern for two years with the Los Angeles Community College Faculty Guild (AFT 1521), served UTLA to elect Scott Schmerelson to LAUSD Board, and have been employed with SEIU 721.
